Job Title: Airfreight Warehouse Operative
Location: Southall
Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor / Warehouse Manager
Shift: Tuesday to Sunday OR Monday to Saturday
Salary: GBP25-30k

Job Summary:
The Airfreight Warehouse Operative is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of an airfreight warehouse. This role involves handling incoming and outgoing shipments, preparing freight for transport, and ensuring compliance with all safety and security regulations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Freight Handling:
o Load and unload airfreight shipments manually or using equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
o Sort, label, and organize shipments to ensure efficient processing and tracking.
o Prepare and secure freight for transport, including wrapping, palletizing, and strapping as necessary.
· Inventory and Documentation:
o Conduct accurate counts of inventory and update warehouse management systems (WMS) to ensure proper tracking of goods.
o Complete all required paperwork and documentation for incoming and outgoing shipments, including labeling and manifesting.
· Safety and Compliance:
o Follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure a safe working environment.
o Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company security requirements, including Dangerous Goods handling if applicable.
o Report any safety hazards, damaged goods, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
· Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
o Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling tools.
o Conduct basic equipment checks and report any maintenance needs to ensure equipment is kept in good working condition.
· Teamwork and Communication:
o Work closely with team members to ensure shipments are processed efficiently and in a timely manner.
o Communicate any issues or delays to the supervisor to maintain smooth warehouse operations.
o Assist with other warehouse tasks as assigned, including general housekeeping to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Experience:
o Previous warehouse or logistics experience is preferred, ideally in an airfreight or fast-paced environment.
o Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain one) is preferred.
· Skills and Abilities:
o Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
o Ability to work efficiently under time constraints and adapt to shifting priorities.
o Good communication skills and a cooperative attitude for working in a team environment.
o Basic computer skills for updating inventory and tracking shipments.
Work Environment:
This role is based in an airfreight warehouse, where quick turnaround times and adherence to safety protocols are essential. The environment is fast-paced.
