Our client is looking for an Airfreight Import Supervisor
Job summary
As an integral part of our import operations team, you will support the Import Team Leader to ensure allocated customers receive a best-in-class service in accordance with Company strategy.
You will operate and manage our Air Freight Import services, liaise with and supervise the relevant staff, partners, carriers and clients and administer the business in accordance with Company procedures and requirements.
You will be flexible to support the Import Team Leader in achieving efficient and cost-effective operations, managing and supporting your team members to achieve the desired outcomes and develop them in their roles.
With support from the other team supervisors, you will help deputise for the Assistant Import Manager & Team Leader in their absence.
To support the Team Leader and Air Freight Import Assistant Manager with any other relevant requirements they may have.

Role Responsibilities
Support the implementation of the agreed strategy with the Team Leadeer and Air Freight Import Assistant Manager.
Comply with company policies and make sure your staff are familiar with all. Pay particular attention to the credit policy and compliance with HMRC.
Support the development of your team members, highlighting knowledge gaps and suggesting training requirements to your manager.
Ensure we have human and operational resources to deliver the planned work we have on hand, when approval to employ is agreed, seek out and develop talented people to join the team.
Drive excellent customer care and management of client expectations through the team.
Support the Career Development Review process with your staff and manage any behavioral or performance concerns.
Ensure appropriate management of your own and staff time.
Understand, utilise and develop the main freight management system, with multifreight as the operation and finance tool.
Understand the accounting and financial processes and requirements.
Be commercially proactive and ensure that the business always makes a profit and that all overhead and operating costs are kept at the best market rates possible.
Ensure estimates are allocated for all expected costs and our sales invoices are raised in a timely manner in accordance with our invoice policies.
Check and sign off all files handled by you and your team, ensuring they have been costed and charged correctly, addressing any issues with the team and raising any concerns to your manager.
Monitor new and lost clients on a weekly basis and keep management advised.
Support the sales teams with customer meetings and visits.
Support in setting KPIs and agree Standard Operating Procedures with all origin Partners and suppliers.
Promote to clients and potential clients all services.
Deal with all insurance claims in accordance with our policy and the insurance industrys standard process i.e. all claims are settled by the insurers, with any commercial gestures agreed with the Business Leader before proposal to a client.
Always protect the interests of the business and escalate any areas of concern to management.
Daily routines
Ensure team briefing and de-briefing every morning and evening.
Motivate the team for best performance.
Ensure professional communications and management on a job-by-job basis with clients, origin partners, suppliers and other departments.
Manage and progress all consignments effectively with the team.
Report job stats and any resource or operating issues to the Import Team Leader.
Ensure all shipments, addresses and other data are entered in system and Multi Freight in the correct format and in a timely manner.
Reporting Requirements
The agreed customer reporting must be accurate and timely.
Prepare any specific client KPI reporting required, supporting the team with any requirements for accounts they manage for The Group.
Report to the Team Leader and Assistant Import Manager & on any exceptional and interesting customer activities and any new clients who come on board.
Report any incident that may have a negative effect on the operations ability to deliver an excellent service.
The hours are 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday but flexibility is required.
Salary up to GBP38K depending on experience
