Job Overview:
The Air Export Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the air export operations of the London operations and Gateway (consols). This role involves ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of air freight shipments while maintaining
compliance with international regulations and customer service standards. The Air Export Manager will lead a team, drive operational efficiency, and build strong relationships with clients, carriers, and regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management: Oversee all aspects of air export operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective shipment processing.
Team Leadership: Supervise and train the air export team, providing guidance and support to improve performance and efficiency.
Customer Service: Maintain excellent client relationships, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with international shipping laws, IATA regulations, UK CAA requirements, Aviation Security, and customs requirements.
Carrier & Vendor Coordination: Negotiate rates, schedules, and services with airlines, trucking companies, and third-party vendors.
Documentation & Compliance: Oversee the preparation and accuracy of export documentation, including airway bills, commercial invoices, and packing lists.
Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in the workflow and implement improvements to enhance operational effectiveness.
Financial Oversight: Monitor profit margins, operational costs, and invoicing accuracy to ensure budget adherence.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks in export operations and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.
Reporting & Analysis: Generate and analyse reports on key performance metrics, freight volumes, and financial performance.
Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum 5 years of experience in air export freight forwarding.
Strong knowledge of international air freight operations, logistics, and regulatory compliance.
Experience with UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations and compliance.
Experience with Aviation Security requirements.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work under pressure.
Effective communication and negotiation skills.
High attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to analyse data and make strategic decisions.
Knowledge of customs procedures and documentation requirements.
IATA and/or Dangerous Goods certification (preferred).
The hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm but flexibility is required
