Warehouse Operations Supervisor

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a large freight forwarder, who is looking for a Warehouse Operations supervisor to join their experienced team. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations on site (Transport, Warehousing, and Customer liaison) independently.

Shifts: 4on-4off , 07:00-19:00.
Salary: GBP28,000.00 per year
Duties and responsibilities:
· Dealing with all aspects of the operations: liaison with clients and other offices and sites, dealing with queries, managing drivers, and general staffing supervision
· To act as point of contact and liaison between transport providers
· Monitoring and maintaining warehouse and transport management tools
· Measure and improve vehicle utilisation for import collection, export deliveries and return of airline ULDs
· Manage and maintain customs control for freight not in free circulation;
· Manage the collection and delivery of freight;
· Maintain close liaison with the other departments within the company
· Workforce monitoring including induction, training and supervisory duties in support of the Operations Manager
· Create release notes on dispatch of freight from the facility and doing so in line with current customs regulations
· Communicate intake and release notes to the customers
· Arrange distribution as per customer instructions
· Manage stock and orders
· Manage Health and Safety on his shift;
· Manage compliance with Aviation Security regimes;
· Liaison with Customs, the CAA and other regulators as and when they attend site;
· Liaising with customers with regard to deliveries and transfers
· Liaison with internal and external customers both on the phone and face-to-face with regard to collections/deliveries of international movements and warehouse handling activities
· Effective organisational skills with significant attention to detail
· Ability to effectively communicate at all levels
· Assisting in the warehouse as and when called for - typically forklift duties and building and breaking freight;
Requirements
· Proven experience in leading teams, delegation, and strong leadership;
· Past experience in a transport and/or warehousing and/or customs environment and/or at the airport and within freight-forwarding.
· Customer facing skills;
· IT literacy and numerical skills;
· The ability to work and lead in a high-pressure environment;
· Language skills - Fluency in English. Fluency or working knowledge in other European languages will be a distinct advantage.
· Past operational warehousing and transport experience
· Valid drivers license for a manual vehicle
· Physically fit and capable of typical manual handling tasks associated with lifting heavy objects, pushing and pulling aircraft units on roller-beds etc
